English: Evening dress in maroon-red damask with black design, trimmed with black man-made net and beads and sequins, cotton. Reticella lace on bodice, probably machine-made bobbin lace on hem of skirt. “MAROON-BLACK BROCADE DRESS (two piece) evening dress for large woman. Black and maroon cotton(.) brocade slashed with black satin overlaid with decorated black net – also beading and heavy cotton lace. Bodice - low neck front and back very full sleeves ending in large cuff at elbow. Short waisted with flounce below waist. Front opening. Lined and boned. Skirt - shaped panels very full to finish in a small train – vertical panels of satin and decorated net – lined.” |
