Calabasa Tontanera 6 Cidracayote, Span Squashes are of luxurious and rapid growth, but very tender ; they will not stand any frost or cold nights, andshould be planted in a warm, light, rich soil, after the weather has become settled and warm, about the middle ofMay or June. Plant in light well-manured hills in the same manner as Cucumbers and Melons—the bush varieties3 or 4 feet apart each way, and the running kinds from 6 to 8 feet. Eight to ten seeds should be sown in each hill,thinning out, after they have attained their rough leaves, and danger from bugs is over, leaving three or four ofthe strongest plants per hill.
