| Description |
English: Dredging the Barmouth. See 559433. The Bann needs fairly constant attention to avoid the build up of a sandbar at the Barmouth. The harbour tug "Confidence" has a rake on her stern used to loosen the silt which is then washed out by the tide. This practice works reasonably well in a place such as the Bann where there is a good flow of water to carry the disturbed silt out to sea. Portstewart is in the background. |
