English: Drakanon Tower. Athenian military watchtowers from the Hellenistic period.
It was built at the time of Alexander the Great in the 4th century BC. Considered as one of the best preserved towers in the Aegean . It is 44ft high and was built to watch sea traffic in the channel between Ikaria and Samos. |
