Title
Dragonesque BROOCH
Description
English: Copper alloy dragonesque brooch. Missing both terminals and corroded but found with damaged pin still associated. S-shape outline. The pin has two longitudinal grooves on the front of the attachment coil. There is a projection from the central body towards the head to enclose the pin attachment area. The body has two areas of relief curvilinear decoration meeting at, but not completely symmetrical about, a central line; unfortunately some of the detail is obscured by corrosion. Surviving length 33mm. Relief decorated versions of the dragonesque are far less common than enamelled examples; all are generally seen as a northern British type.
