Title
Dragonesque BROOCH
Description
English: Copper alloy dragonesque brooch fragment. Missing pin and one terminal. S-shape outline. Flattish back. The surviving animal head terminal has a thicker conical "ear" and the snout is damaged; a narrow strip joins the chin to the body below. Enamelled panels on the body consist of 3 central rectangles with tapered panels at each end, coloured alternately perhaps originally blue (now much discoloured greenish) and matt yellow. Surviving length 33mm. Very similar to Hattatt no. 608 in size and style, but that example has a ring terminal on the snout (present example does not have the scar of such a ring).
