This is a portrait ca. 1664 by an anonymous artist (possibly by Augustine Clement) of Dr. John Clarke, a physician in New England. It is among the earliest American paintings, and the earliest of an American physician. It was donated to Boston Medical Library at Harvard University in 1901. It now hangs in Francis A. Countway Library, Harvard Medical School.
