Description
English:

Born in Ohio, Henry A. Smith trained as a doctor and then headed west in a wagon train, arriving in Seattle in 1852. He settled on the part of Queen Anne Hill that is now known as Smith Cove and did some farming in addition to his medical practice. He is remembered for transcribing (and perhaps embellishing) a now-famous speech by Chief Si'ahl (Chief Seattle).
