[edit]
Description
English: Dr. Calvin B. Bridges of Caltech with map that discloses location of the genes, or inheritance unit carriers, in the four chromosomes of the fruit fly. The scientist is pointing to a band composed of genes, including one that determines certain wing structure. Segments of two of the chromosomes are shown, appearing as striped sticks of candy. This chart was prepared for Carnegie Institution exhibit on the basis of fly-breeding experiments. Photograph appears with the article, "What's New in the Progress of Science," Los Angeles Times, 17 Mar 1935: J16.
