Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Doyen of the Diesel Age 40122 and 43100 stand at the buffers on King's Cross Station underneath the western arch of the roof. 40122 was originally D200 and the first of the 'pilot scheme' express passenger diesel locomotives to enter service in 1958. Nearing the end of her days, a future preserved by the National Railway Museum awaits her. 43100 is a HST power car in charge of express passenger trains. Electrification followed and the glory is now shared with the class 91 electrics on the GNER services.
