English: Late 1910s postcard view of Crawford Nebraska, looking north on Second Street from Linn. No author is stated on the image, and it is not postmarked.
The photo was almost certainly taken in the late 1910s. It was taken, at earliest, 1916, which is when the sidewalks were installed downtown. The business signs support this date; also, there are very few automobiles visible, as compared to similar views in the 1920s where numerous motor vehicles are present. The most prominent building in this scene is the Co-operative Block Building, on the far left. Note the ornamental spires atop the building; these were late removed, although the cornice remains. The structure has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. As the postcard this image was scanned from was obviously published before 1978 in the United States and does not have a copyright notice printed anywhere on it, it is currently in the public domain and is therefore eligible for inclusion on Wikimedia Commons. |

[edit]This image is in the public domain because it is a mere mechanical scan or photocopy of a public domain original, or – from the available evidence – is so similar to such a scan or photocopy that no copyright protection can be expected to arise. The original itself is in the public domain for the following reason:
This tag is designed for use where there may be a need to assert that any enhancements (eg brightness, contrast, colour-matching, sharpening) are in themselves insufficiently creative to generate a new copyright. It can be used where it is unknown whether any enhancements have been made, as well as when the enhancements are clear but insufficient. For known raw unenhanced scans you can use an appropriate {{PD-old}} tag instead. For usage, see Commons:When to use the PD-scan tag. ![]() |

A. R. Kennedy Building, 1907. Housed Kennedy Grocery for around half a century, and once housed the Crawford Chamber of Commerce upstairs.
Adams Block, late 1880's. Refronted in 1930, it now houses the community museum.
Syndicate/Knapp Block, 1896. The opera house was once on the upper level. It has housed a grocery store in some form since its construction.
Technically Second Street, Crawford's "main drag".
Adams Building, 1916. Also known as the Frontier Building. Has traditionally housed a bar.
