Deutsch: Douglas C-47A-90-DL Skytrain, s/n 43-15983, Fertigungsblock 43-15633 ... 43-16132 = 500 Flugzeuge. Die militärische Ausführung des bekannten 2-mot Verkehrsflugzeuges Douglas DC-3 wurde während des 2. Weltkrieges v. a. als Truppen- und Materialtransporter eingesetzt. Für Giebelstadt bei Würzburg, Germany, ist die C-47A bereits mit der Erstbelegung des Flugplatzes durch die USAAF ab dem 20. April 1945 nachgewiesen. In den 1950er bis 1960er Jahren war die C-47A und B Skytrain regelmäßig in den Headquarters Flights der Jagd-, Bomber- und Aufklärungsgeschwader der USAFE als Support Aircraft, sogenannte "Hacks" anzutreffen. Hinweis: Lt. Joe Baugher's http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_serials/usafserials.html und USAF Serial Number Search Results Serial Number Criteria: 15983 wurden Anfang Mai 1945 die deutschen Wehrmachtsgenerale Jodl und Keitl mit einer C-47A (VC-47A) s/n 43-16121 von Berlin nach Reims in Frankreich geflogen. Im Oberkommando/Oberstes Hauptquartier der Alliierten Expeditionsstreitkräfte erfolgte am 7. Mai 1945 die Unterzeichnung der bedingslosen Kapitulation der dt. Wehrmacht in Anwesenheit des US Generals (General of the Army) Dwight D. Eisenhower. |
