Description
English: A U.S. Navy Douglas A-4C Skyhawk of Attack Squadron 22 (VA-22) "Fighting Redcocks" approaches the aircraft carrier USS Midway (CVA-41), 26 May 1965. In the foreground is McDonnell F-4B-19-MC Phantom II (BuNo 151482) of Fighter Squadron 21 (VF-21) "Free Lancers". VA-22 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 2 (CVW-2) aboard the Midway for a deployment to Vietnam from 6 March to 23 November 1965. The destroyer USS John R. Craig (DD-885) follows the carrier as plane guard.
