Description

Le B-26 BuAer 44-35859, numéro de construction 29138 est l'un des 155 A-26C-50-DT. Il a été produit par l'usine Douglas de Tulsa et livré à l'USAAF le 19 juin 1945 pour stockage au Sacramento Air Materiel Center, McClellan AAF. En novembre 1951 il devient B-26C au 3310th Technical Training Wing (Air Training Command), Scott AFB. En mars 1952, transformé en TB-26C, il passe au 3555th Pilot Training Wing (ATC), Perrin AFB où il devient TB-26B en juillet de la même année. En avril 1953 il part au 3575th Pilot Training Wing (ATC) de Vance AFB.

En mars 1954 il est affecté au Ogden Air Materiel Area, Hill AFB en tant que RB-26C. Puis il vient en Europe, en mai 1955 en Allemagne, au 10th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing (USAFE), basé à Spangdahlem AB mais déployé à Rhein Main AB. En avril 1957 il est stocké à Châteauroux au 3131st Maintenance Group (Air Materiel Command) et finalement déclaré surplus en décembre de la même année.

Commence ensuite sa carrière dans l'Armée de l'Air, modifié en B-26APQ13, livré le 16 juin 1960. Il débute au CEAM de juillet à novembre 1960, puis continue au CIB 328 sous l'immatriculation F-UKEY / 328-EY jusqu'en janvier 1967, pour être réformé le 27 mars 1968 à Châteaudun. Il revient sur BA 106 de Bordeaux-Mérignac, devant le PC base, avant son démontage par une équipe du CAEA en 2000.

Quelques doutes subsistent toutefois sur le numéro car le grattage de la peinture laisse apparaître des insignes d'autres unités.
