Title |
Double looped buckle frame with oval loops. Medieval or Post-Medieval. |
||
Description |
English: Copper alloy double looped buckle frame with a central integral bar, pin missing. Medieval or Post-Medieval. Length 35.4mm, width 29.5mm and 3.4mm thick. Weight 9.83g. The loops are oval and almost identical – one is slightly larger than the other and both are bevelled on the inside. The front of the frame is convex and the rear is flat. Each loop has a thickened outside edge to accommodate three crudely executed grooves, the central one functioning as a pin rest. The perimeter of the frame adjacent to the bar is slightly recessed to form angles and the bar is D-shaped in cross-section, flat on the rear side. At the centre of the bar is a deposit of iron staining and there is also iron staining on one of the outside edges of the frame only. The frame has a pale green patina over most of the surface and the metal appears to be in a stable condition. |
