Title
Double loop annular buckle - incomplete. Front view.
Description
English: An incomplete, Medieval, cast, copper alloy, double loop annular buckle. The frame has a flat back and bevelled outer front edges and a possible tongue notch. There are several remnants of black surface lacquer. The buckle is broken in half possibly by the plough. The buckle has little wear but a rather corroded surface and is likely to date to 1350-1650AD. Ref. Buckles 1250-1800, Ross Whitehead, Greenlight Publishing 1996, page 44-45 No. 254. The incomplete buckle is 43.05mm long, 28.45mm wide, 3.63mm thick, diameter 43.05mm and weighs 6.7g.
