Description

Douadic (Indre)

Pulmonaire (Pulmonaria).

Cette vivace aime les sous-bois herbeux, les sols plutôt humides. Elle fleurit de mars à mai.

Son nom vient du latin Pulmonarius, en raison de ses feuilles parsemées de taches plus claires comme un poumon. Au Moyen-Âge, l’espèce officinale était utilisée pour soigner les problèmes respiratoires, en application de la théorie des "Signatures"*.

Les fleurs virent du rouge au bleu. Le changement de couleur des fleurs est du au changement du pigment en fonction de l'acidité du cytoplasme (l'intérieur de la cellule), cette acidité diminuant avec le vieillissement de la cellule.


  • La théorie des Signatures est une médecine qui date du Moyen Age mais qui prend racine dans l'antiquité avec Pline l'Ancien notamment. D'après l'horticulteur Marc Lachèvre, on peut caractériser cette pratique ainsi: "Similia similibus curantur", les semblables soignent les semblables.
