[edit]DescriptionDornbirn-wedding custom cutting a log-04ASD.jpg |
English: Old wedding custom in the Alemannic room, sawing wood. The bride and the groom have to saw through a tree trunk with a saw. When operating the crosscut saw, it is important that you always pull it alternately. The saw must not be pushed, otherwise it will jam. This custom stands for the common, equal work that the bride and groom should try in their marriage. The custom symbolizes the balance necessary in marriage between talking and listening, activity and passivity and paying attention to the partner's needs. The bridesmaids may assist the bride with the sawing.
