Notes
  • 2010 Charles E. Peterson Prize, Second Place
  • Significance: One of few extant structures built by Scottish highland immigrants in South Carolina the MacColl house is an excellent example of the assimilation of Scottish building traditions to vernacular architecture of the Lowcountry. The MacColl house (ca. 1810) is likely the second structure built on the farmstead by John MacColl, a Scottish immigrant that came to South Carolina at the turn of the 19th century.
  • Unprocessed Field note material exists for this structure: N1547
  • Survey number: HABS SC-876
  • Building/structure dates: ca. 1810 Initial Construction
