Summary
[edit]DescriptionDonaldson's Hospital - geograph.org.uk - 1302469.jpg |
English: Donaldson's Hospital. Built between 1842 and 1851 to a design by William Playfair, the school was James Donaldson's legacy to poor children, some of whom were deaf and mute. In 1938 it became a school exclusively for deaf children. In 2007, it was sold by the City authorities for conversion into flats. Legend has it that Queen Victoria coveted the building as an alternative residence to Holyroodhouse.
