Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Don Diego clock tower at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack in Del Mar, California, USA. It is freshly renovated and relocated, narrowly rescued from destruction this year.

It was made in the 1950s to advertise the Del Mar Fair (now the San Diego County Fair), becoming a landmark. Visible is one of three sides on a tower that was part of a building in the style of 1950s Googie architecture. The caballero Don Diego is a fictional character inspired by Mexican-American landowners in Southern California, including the Californios.

The photo was taken during the 2017 San Diego County Fair.
