Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The House of Caiaphas (the Church of St. Savior):
  • Left: “A. The rock formerly at the opening of the Lord's Monument. B. the Prison of Christ, as commonly named.”
The "Monument" refers to Christ's tomb? St. Savior Church claims to have a rock obtained from that tomb's entry and have put it near its altar.
  • Right: the House of Caiaphas, Catholic graves, and the Cenacle.
From Johannes Van Cootwijck. Itinerarium Hierosolymitanum et Syriacum, Antwerp, Ηieronymus Verdussen, 1619.
Latina: A. Lapis ad ostium Monumenti Dominici olim positus. B. Carcer Christi vulgò appellatus. / Domus Cayphae Pontificis nunc Ecclesia S. Salvatoris, sepulchra Catholicorum, Caenaculum Domini.
