English: The magnetic domain structure in the strips of metal film. Visualization by magnetic force microscopy (MFM). The sample was prepared from a CoCr alloy film, thickness of 60 nm. Scan size 37 microns to 24 microns. The image was obtained using an atomic force microscope SmartSPM, AIST-NT. The strips made of thin films of magnetic metals, often have "classical" domain structures that allows you to immediately make some assumptions about the distribution of magnetization. In our case we can speak of a 180-degree domain walls in the central part of the strip and 90-degree domain walls near the edges of the strip. Character of the domain structure depends upon the shape of the sample and parameters of the film. Domain structures are different in the strips arranged at different angles to the axis of the magnetic anisotropy. This is clearly seen in the left inset. The insert size is 23 to 23 microns. MSM allows you to visualize not only the domain walls but Bloch lines as well. The right inset (3.8 µm by 3.8 µm) shows that domain walls have bright and dark areas. Changing the contrast of the domain walls indicates the presence of Bloch lines. |
