Title
Dolphin mount (unknown date)
Description
English: A complete lead zoomorphic mount of uncertain date (possibly post-medieval to modern).

The mount is cast in the shape of a stylised fish or dolphin, with clear attachment breaks under the head and the curve of the tail. The body of the fish is curved in an exaggerated S-shape, with the head (including lips and large eyes) at the start of a broad curve outwards and then down towards a smaller inwards curve at the tail. The fanned tail bends outwards again to connect to the body of the fish. Though worn, there is evidence of casting detail to imitate scales on the body, in addition to features on the face and tail. The patina is unevenly white with patches of smooth grey metal.

Length: 56.8mm, width: 18.19mm, thickness: 12.81mm, weight: 95.84g. Cf. <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/982453">DUR-E6DE8E</a>, <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/949934">LVPL-73CC91</a> and <a href="https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/147528">SUSS-F993B5</a>.
