Dolphin brooch
Description
English: A complete, cast copper alloy Roman dolphin brooch with hinge mechanism of Hull’s type 94B (Hattat,R. 1985). The lugs and pin do not survive. The tubular wings have vertical incised lines at the terminals and a rib either side of where the bow meets the wings. The high arched bow has a vertical rib running down the centre. The long triangular catch plate is complete has a width of 13.4mm. The foot knob is domed with a groove above. The length of the brooch is 49.7mnm and the width is 26.8mm.
