Dolphin Brooch from West Rasen
Description
English: Copper alloy

Brooch. Cast Dolphin Brooch with tubular sheet metal wings closed with a butted seam at the back of the brooch and a single incised line towards each end, retaining an axis bar probably for a hinged pin (now lost). A D-section bow tapers towards a folded unpierced catch-plate. Suggested date: Early Roman, 60-80.

Length: 33.9mm, Width: 21.2mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 4.6mm, Weight: 4.12gms.
