Description
English: Copper alloy

Brooch. Cast fragment of a hinged dolphin brooch, comprising tubular wings crimped around an axis bar holding the stub of a hinged fastening, and the upper part of a D-section bow. The (now) incomplete wings appear to have been corrugated so as to resemble a spring at the head of the brooch. In poor condition. Suggested date: Early Roman, 60-80.

Length: 20.4mm, Width (wings): 26.1mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 7mm, Weight: 5.69gms.
