Description
English: Portrait in the Calle de Sor Francisca Armendáriz in Cartagena (Spain) of the businesswoman Dolores Narváez. The work was created in 2021 by the artist Clara Ledo as part of the municipal divulgation project "Huellas de mujer. Cartagena en femenino".

The text that accompanies the portrait reads:

Dolores Narváez Moya. Born in Pilar de la Horadada in 1888. An entrepreneur in the first decades of the 20th century, she opened her own business in Cartagena. At the beginning of the 1930s she inaugurated "Casa Narváez", giving its doors to two central streets of Cartagena: Aire and Mayor.

It was a store dedicated to everything related to sewing, corsetry, dressmaking and toys, among other things. In addition, it was a place for gatherings of women. Thus, she was incorporated as a woman in the business fabric of the time.

She passed away in 1970.

En el texto que acompaña al retrato se lee:

Dolores Narváez Moya. Nacida en el Pilar de la Horadada en 1888. Emprendedora en las primeras décadas del siglo XX, abre su propio negocio en Cartagena. A principios de los años 30 inaugura «Casa Narváez», dando sus puertas a dos céntricas calles cartageneras: Aire y Mayor.

Fue un bazar dedicado a todo lo relacionado con la costura, corsetería, corte y confección y juguetería, entre otras cosas. Además, fue lugar de tertulias femeninas. Estuvo incorporada, así, como mujer en el tejido empresarial de la época.

Falleció en 1970.
