English: 071115-N-0237L-103 SEA OF JAPAN (Nov. 11, 2007) Republic of Korea (ROK) amphibious assault ship ROKS Dokdo (LPH 6111) conducts well deck operations with a U.S. landing craft air cushion, from the "Dragons" of Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 5 Det. Western Pacific, embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). U.S. and ROK forces are currently involved in the Korean Interoperability Training Program to increase U.S./Korean bilateral amphibious operational readiness. Essex is the lead ship of the only forward-deployed U.S. Expeditionary Strike Group and serves as the flagship for CTF 76, the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force commander. Task Force 76 is headquartered at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa, Japan, with a detachment in Sasebo, Japan.
