XXXVI. CONDEMNED INDIANS FAITHFUL DOG. Most tragic was the end of the Indian and his dog—No more the game and campfires ronnd the blazing log. On an Indian Eeservation in the far Western part ofthe United States, along where the Eocky Mountains lifttheir peaks, and towards the setting sun, an Indian com-mitted murder. He was tried, convicted and sentencedto be shot. A prisoner who receives a death sentence in the Eeserva-tion is given a long time before an execution is carriedinto effect. This Indian was granted one year.
