Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Doe Hill Lane Oil Terminal The photograph shows the Doe Hill Lane Oil Terminal, which is on a bearing of 130° and 1kilometre distant from the viewpoint (both measurements are approximations).

The viewpoint is near this 373843 on the site of the old Morton Colliery.

In front of the terminal is a railway line. To the north (left) this line branches off from the main Sheffield/London railway at Clay Cross. Beyond Alfreton to the south (right) it becomes known as the Erewash Valley line and has a link to Nottingham before it rejoins the main Sheffield/London line south of Derby.

Beyond the terminal is a newly constructed country park on the site of a recently closed open cast mine.

The housing in the distance is part of Newton.
