Divine Brown, a Toronto-born R&B singer whose expansive octave range and engaging soul sound has made her one of Canada’s most prominent R&B artists. Her self-penned tune “Old Skool Love,” charted a path for international success driving up the gold sales of her debut album and in 2009, Divine won the Juno Award for Best R&B Album, “The Love Chronicles”. Divine’s third album, “Something Fresh,” encompasses a mix of dance, reggae and R&B. In 2008, Divine toured through North America with the Backstreet Boys for their “Unbreakable” Tour. She also took part in an interactive documentary series called City Sonic, which featured 20 Toronto artists and had Divine perform at Toronto’s Rex Hotel. When not working, Divine likes to spend time with her daughter, as well as donating her energy to charitable organizations. She is a proud supporter of World Vision Canada and its Artist Associates program, which offers a unique alternative to traditional backing by providing financial tour support for performers who take the message of hope to the stage. divinebrown.ca twitter.com/divinamarrom + For designer Freda Lordanous, fashion design is not just a career – it is a passion! When Freda immigrated to Toronto in 1971, she brought with her a solid design background, an unerring eye for detail, and a distinct European flair. She began as a couturier for a private clientele and was encouraged by this loyal following to open a haute couture shop in 1973. As her reputation flourished, so did her business. With a degree in Fashion Design and the experience of owning a couture shop, Freda soon fulfilled her immediate goal to reactivate the business she had left behind in Greece. She set up “house” as a couturier for small private clientele, which soon grew rapidly into a manufacturing and fashion company. Loyal clients travel from all across Canada just to get a glimpse of Freda’s latest fashions. She combines the best European fabrics with high quality and innovative styling all in the newest colours and silhouettes of the season. In 1991, Freda won the CABE Award (Canada Award for Business Excellence by the Federal Government of Canada in recognition of her remarkable talents and business achievements. As a business person, Freda is highly recognized by both her colleagues and private sectors for her achievements and was chosen as Canada’s Best Employer for Women. Over 30+ years of experience has given Freda a solid foundation for continued growth and success. Her passion for the industry and fashion is exempted in her glorious collections season after season. fredas.com twitter.com/FredasToronto + In 2012, The Heart Truth® marks a decade of commitment to women's heart health. Starting with February's American Heart Month and throughout the year, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) reaffirms its commitment to increasing awareness about heart disease among women and helping women take steps to reduce their own personal risk of developing heart disease. thehearttruth.ca twitter.com/thehearttruth.com
