Description A U.S. Navy Grumman TBF Avenger flown by Ensign Carroll L. Farrell of Torpedo Squadron Ten (VT-10) from the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CV-6) pictured after ditching in the water just outside Truk Lagoon, 30 April 1944. The pilot and his crew are in the raft near the aircraft. Farrell and his crew were later rescued by the submarine USS Tang (SS-306).
