Disused railway near Kinninvie

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Disused railway near Kinninvie This railway cutting once carried the South Durham and Lancashire Union Railway (also commonly known as the Stainmore Railway) which ran over the Pennines from Penrith to Darlington via Kirkby Stephen, Barnard Castle and Bishop Auckland. Opened in 1861, it closed in 1962. It appears from the notice that there was a footpath here at one stage with public access allowed, but that this has been closed because of dangerous structures.
