Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Disused Railway Branch for Farndale Ironstone Mine Also known as Blakey mines due to its proximity to Blakey Ridge. The mine operated somewhat optimistically for approximately twenty four years at the end of the nineteenth century. Ore had to be hauled a height difference of approximately 130m up an incline to connect with this branch. At the top the incline bridged the railway, the stone abutments can be seen here, and I'm guessing some form of tipping arrangement would have been constructed into the railway trucks.
