IANA CLAPPER RAIL. Rallus crepitans saturatus Ridgway. The Louisiana clapper rail is common and resident in the saltmarshes of that State and ranges east to Perdido Bay, Ala. (Howell),and west to Corpus Christi, Tex. (Sennett). Under this form are now included all the specimens from Texas thatwere formerly identified as Rallus longirostris caribaeus. Eggs havebeen taken near Corpus Christi, Tex., as late as July 23-27, 1910(Thayer). FLORIDA CLAPPER RAIL. Rallus crepitans scotti Sennett. The Florida clapper rail is confined to Florida and is a resident ofthe western coast from Charlotte Harbor north to the mouth of theSuwanee River. Downy young have been found from early May to NORTH AMERICAN RAILS AND THEIR ALLIES. 21 early July (Scott); and eggs, March 31, 1897, near the mouth of theAnclote River (Bishop). WAYNE CLAPPER RAIL. (Brew-ster) , while a few remain through this season at the northern limit ofthe range on the coast of North Carolina (Bishop). Eggs have been taken near Matanzas Inlet, Fla., May 28, 1895(specimens in IT. S. National Museum); Mcintosh, Ga., March 29, 22 BULLETIN 128, U. S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.
