Summary
[edit]DescriptionDistribution Voltage regulators.JPG |
English: A three-phase bank of voltage regulators rated 400 Amps, 14400/24940VY 60 Hz. Each regulator contains an oil-filled autotransformer with 32 taps to change voltage + or - 10%. Voltage regulators such as this are used to control the voltage on long AC power distribution lines.
This bank is mounted on a wooden pole structure. Each regulator weighs about 2600 lbs and is rated 576 kVA. Control boxes (not shown) for each regulator are mounted near grade level. A voltage regulator bank can be distinguished from a step-down transformer bank by observing that incoming and outgoing wires are of similar construction, the same voltage class.
