Summary
[edit]DescriptionDisplay room - geograph.org.uk - 1758444.jpg |
English: Display room. Room high up in the west front of St.Mary's Cathedral inside the roof void 1753337 with displays about the Cathedral construction, including a scale model of the Cathedral with spires.
The 14th century central spire made St.Mary's Cathedral the tallest building in the Medieval world at 525ft (3 feet higher than the Great Pyramid), it blew down in a storm of 1549. The spires on the two western towers survived structural challenges and over two centuries of storms until 1807 until they were removed for safety reasons ..... though not without vehement protestations from the good people of Lincoln. |
