children. When, however, tuber-culous manifestations exist the symptoms are the same as described inother tubercular joints. Treatment consists in securing -rest and immobility of the parts withthe aid of plaster casts. Pus, when present, requires surgical relief. Theoutcome of these cases is as a rule good. Joseph S., 10 years old, has been under the treatment of Dr. Dexter Ashley, towhom I am indebted for the illustration. The child wa« in an extremely anaemiccondition, heart and lungs normal, no evidence of tuberculosis. SG) The boy was able to run about, and excepting this arm seemed to be in a fair physicalcondition. A comparison of the healthy elbow-joint with the diseased joint is quiteinteresting. Dr. Ashleys treatment consisted in strict aseptic dressings, tightbandaging, a bandage to support the return circulation and general restorative treat-ment. ,

Etiology.—This condition may follow the acute infectious diseases,especially tliose which show a tendency to suppurative processes. It mostfrequently follows measles, scarlet fever, and empyema.
