It is well to remember that very young children donot offer good resistance to the shock of an abdominal section. Fully 50per cent, of cases seen by me were fatal. The details of an operation forintussusception are those of aseptic surgery, for which my readers arereferred to the special books on surgery. Dr. John F. Erdman, of NewYork City, has reported a series of successful operations in very voungchildren. IJmbilical Heexia.i This condition is frequently seen in both male and female children.It is more often seen in the female. Causes.—It is usually found in children with flabby muscles such asrachitic and atrophied cases.
