English: Discharging cement As well as the self-discharging cement vessels that arrive at the Lagan Cement Co. The Lagan Cement Co. also manually discharge from various other types of ships. In this view, (made from the top of one of the silos) the M.V. Steyning is being discharged using Lagan's own pump. The long boom, (flexible hose attached) reaches into the hold of the M.V. Steyning, and the cement is sucked into one of the two kettles mounted on a forty foot trailer by a V10 cylinder engine, when the kettle is full, a V6 cylinder engine then blows the cement to one of seven selected silos, from where this photo was made. |
