Summary
[edit]DescriptionDisappearing right of way - geograph.org.uk - 593518.jpg |
English: Disappearing right of way Here's an example of a right of way still displayed on the Ordnance Survey map that has been closed in this area - but still appear on a current map, like many others locally.
The reason for this path being closed are obvious - 10 metres after the gate the entire mountain side can be seen to have vanished! It is in fact the edge of an open cast mine, still very much active just beyond. In this case, the area is still listed as open access mountain side and forestry on all the latest OS maps - but it's clear that the open cast mine has expanded... No alternative routes have been provided and I had to retreat the way I came. |
