Dirina massiliensis f. sorediata (Müll. Arg.) Taylor Image location: Planalto das Cezaredas, Portugal Several times I asked myself if the sorediate form of Dirina massiliensis exist here. The fertile version I found at (least at) three different places, though neighbors, very close to the sea. Today I found such form in an habitat of calcareous rocks, with vertical walls, about 10 km inland. I knew it already from description and photos and was able to recognize it even before performing the test with bleach, which gives the extra information needed for identification. Used references: British Flora: Smith et al. (Eds.), The Lichens of Great Britain and Ireland, British Lichen Society, 2nd ed., 2009. Based on chemical features
