Nous sommes devant un bel exemple de photo très retouchée. Il semble en effet que l'enveloppe d'aluminium donnait plutôt l'impression d'être très cabossée. C'était inéluctable vu les propriétés réfléchissantes des tôles d’aluminium et leur finesse.
Les autres images d'époques montrent un tout autre aspect, comme celle-ci (qui semble être à l'origine de la présente photo très retouchée) :
On remarque la très petite taille du gouvernail de lacet (ou de direction).
On observe ici l'une des hélices latérales.
Ici se tenait l'hélice principale.
