As Cherry & Pevsner say, it seems quite a modest farmhouse for the "fine stone gatepiers" shown in 1373647, but, as the architectural details at https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1324976 indicate, this is an important building, with the long range revealing a wealth of history. |
