Português: Em abril de 1911, o município de Iguape, representando o Brasil na Europa, conquistou o diploma de honra internacional de melhor arroz do mundo, disputado em Turim, Itália. Trata-se de uma placa de bronze, em alto relevo, conseguida na 1.ª Exposição Internacional da Indústria e do Trabalho, realizada em 29 de abril de 1911, em comemoração do cinquentenário do Reino da Itália em um evento extraordinário que chamou a multidão de milhares de visitantes, com presença dos monarcas das mais altas autoridades do Reino e os representantes de vários países, inclusive o Brasil que possuía dois pavilhões de exposições. O prêmio está assinado pelo escultor Edoardo Rubino (Itália, 1871-1954), e encontra-se exposto ao público no Museu Histórico e Arqueológico de Iguape, instalado no centro histórico. Nele vê-se escrito em italiano: "DIPLOMA D'ONORE" TORINO MCMXI, ESPOSIZIONE INTERNAZIONALE DELLE INDUSTRIE E DEL LAVORO. |
