Miletus (Turkey), acquired in 1904 Marble 160 170 AD This group in the tradition of Hellenistic prototypes stood in the bassin of a lavish changing room of the Faustina Baths. It shows the god Dionysus accompagnied by a young satyr. Presumably under Christian influence, the genitalia of both statues were chiselled off a late antiquity. |
