Diocletian follis obverse
Description
English: A Roman copper alloy nummus (AE1 size) of Diocletian (AD 284-305), probably dating to c. AD 296-7 (Reece Period 15). Obverse probably IMP C DIOCLET(IANVS P F AVG), Laureate and cuirassed right. Reverse: GENIO POPVLI ROMANI, Genius standing left holding patera and cornucopiae. Mint of London (no mintmark). RIC VI, p. 124, cf. no. 6a. This coin is dated more precisely in H. Cloke and L. Toone, The London Mint of Constantius and Constantine p. 94, cf. 1.03.001-2.
