| Description |
English: Dinghy on Mount Lake It is not long after high tide and the marshes behind the shingle bank of Hurst Spit are mostly underwater. This area close to the shingle bank is called Mount Lake, and it is fed by fresh water from Sturt Pond. The road in the foreground is Saltgrass Lane, which leads to Keyhaven (to the left) through a gap in the sea wall (which can be closed with a watertight gate should it be necessary). The lighthouse at the end of the spit is visible towards the left of the photo, in the distance. |
