Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Diglis locks, River Severn, Worcester To access the Worcester and Birmingham Canal from the Severn, one must first ascend one of the two pairs of locks leading up from the river. The left-hand pair, known as the 'barge' locks, are 18ft wide, and a the time of my visit were the only pair in use. The other pair, on the right, are the 'boat' locks and at this time (1977) these were not in use. These locks are much narrower than the 'barge' locks. This picture shows the bottom gates of the lower barge lock and the lower boat lock.
